Free on the NHS from the pharmacy. No appointment: come in as soon as you can.
If you have had unprotected sex, or your usual contraception has failed, emergency contraception can prevent pregnancy. Stopsley Pharmacy supplies it free on the NHS through the Pharmacy Contraception Service, with no need to see your GP.
Come in as soon as you can
Please do not wait to book an appointment. Emergency contraception works best the sooner it is taken, so come straight to the pharmacy during opening hours and ask for the pharmacist. You will be seen in private as soon as possible. If we are closed, NHS 111 can tell you where to go.
How it works
The morning-after pill can be taken up to three days after unprotected sex, and one type up to five days, though it is most effective in the first 24 hours. The pharmacist will have a short, confidential chat with you to check which option is right for you, then supply it there and then.
Who it is for
Anyone who needs it. The consultation is private and confidential, and you do not need to be registered with a local GP.
Any questions
If you would like to talk to someone first, call us on 01582 611003 and ask for the pharmacist.
